Experience & Activities
As a staff of the 37 Military Hospital Nurses Training College in Accra, variably she was Principal, Deputy Principal and Nurse Educator. Her subjects were Psychology, Sociology, Obstetric Nursing, Nursing Ethics and Research Techniques.
She retired from the Military in June 2015 having served as Military Observer with the African Union Mission in Sudan for one year; Acting Adjutant of the Military Hospital in Accra; Contingent Commander, 10th Anniversary (31st December Revolution) 1991 and Contingent Commander, 50th Anniversary (37 Military Hospital) Parade at Military Hospital grounds.
Col. Wellington holds MA in Education Administration, University of Cape Coast; MSc. in Midwifery, University of Surrey, United Kingdom; FWACN from West Africa College of Nursing; Diploma in Health Systems Management, Galilee College, Israel; Diploma in Nursing, University of Ghana, Legon; RM, Midwifery Training School, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi; SRN, Agogo Nurses Training College and GCE O’ Level from Wesley Girls High School, Cape Coast.
Before entering the Military, she was a Nurse Educator (Midwifery) at Agogo Nurses Training College and Snr. Staff Nurse, Agogo Hospital.
Her association with MountCrest began in September 2015, when she accepted the offer of appointment as Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Nursing, teaching courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Among her achievements was the setting up of a Midwifery Training School for the Military Hospital and successfully turning out six groups of qualified midwives with a performance of 100% at licensure examinations; re-introduction of training of civilian nurses at 37 NTC; facilitation of the construction of two ‘Prefab’ classroom units for 37 NTC and as Chief Examiner for the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Col. Wellington, a Fellow of the West African College of Nursing and Foundation Fellow of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives, is also a Lay Preacher of the Methodist Church; a Church Choir Executive Member; Church Secretary and Patron of the Boys and Girls Brigade and Youth Fellowship of Military Hospital Methodist/Presbyterian Church.
She enjoys dancing, listening to music of all kinds, watching movies, creatively writing poems and prose and playing computer games.
