01 What are the MountCrest Lifelong Learning Courses?
The MountCrest Lifelong Learning Courses are university-level courses designed for professionals, entrepreneurs, public sector workers, retirees, and other lifelong learners who wish to expand their knowledge and skills without enrolling in a full degree programme.
Participants attend classes alongside MountCrest students and benefit from the expertise of our academic staff.
02 What does it mean to “audit” a course?
Auditing a course means attending and participating in classes for learning and professional development purposes without taking the course for academic credit.
Participants gain knowledge and exposure to university-level teaching but are not enrolled as degree students.
03 Who can enrol in these courses?
The programme is open to:

- Individuals considering a career change
- Mature students above the age of 25 interested in expanding their knowledge
The programme is not open to:
- Recent SHS leavers without work experience (they can enrol in our Foundational Skills Programme)
04 Do I need a university degree to enrol?
No.
The Lifelong Learning Programme is designed to be accessible to a wide range of learners. Formal university admission requirements do not apply.
05 Will I receive a qualification at the end?
Participants who successfully complete the course requirements will receive a Certificate of Participation from MountCrest University College.
06 Does the certificate count towards a degree?
No.
The courses are non-credit bearing and do not count towards any degree, diploma, or professional qualification.
07 Can I use the course as a pathway into a MountCrest degree programme?
The courses do not automatically provide admission, exemptions, or advanced standing within a MountCrest degree programme.
However, participants who later wish to pursue a degree may apply through the University’s normal admissions process.
08 Will I attend classes with regular students?
Yes.
Lifelong Learning participants attend (‘audit’) the same lectures as MountCrest degree students, allowing them to experience authentic university learning.
09 Are classes online or in person?
Courses are generally delivered in person unless otherwise indicated by MountCrest. Specific delivery arrangements will be communicated to participants before the start of each course.
10 Do I have to write examinations?
No.
Participants are not required to sit examinations for academic credit. However, lecturers will provide assignments, readings, or class activities to enhance the learning experience.
11 How much does the programme cost?
The fee is:
GHS 2,500 per course per semester
12 Can I take more than one course?
Yes.
Participants may register for a maximum of 2 courses per semester, subject to timetable availability and payment of the applicable fees.
13 How long does each course last?
Courses run for one academic semester and follow the University’s teaching calendar.
